Letter From The Owner
Dear Guests,
It is my pleasure to introduce you to OHEKA Castle. When I first saw OHEKA back in 1984, even in its dilapidated state, I fell in love. Everyone thought I was crazy to purchase OHEKA when it was in such a state of disrepair. But I saw the potential for the estate and also recognized the importance of OHEKA and its historic significance to America and the Gold Coast of Long Island.
Now after 23 years of restoration and the support of my family I am proud to say that OHEKA is once again a private home and a great place to visit and throw a party just as Otto Kahn did back in the 1920’s. I encourage all of you to read about the history of OHEKA on our website and to visit our beautiful estate and gardens.
There is plenty to do during your visit to Long Island. The North Shore is rich with other historic estates, such as the Vanderbilt Estate, Coe Hall and Westbury Gardens; museums such as the Hecksher Museum; and for classical music lovers the Tilles Center is a wonderful place to listen to the LI Philharmonic.
As a family owned and operated business it is my personal goal to ensure that everyone who enters the gates of OHEKA Castle feels like a guest visiting my home, whether you are attending a wedding, staying in one of our guest rooms, joining us for dinner, or having a private tour. Perhaps upon your visit one of my family members or even myself will have the privilege of meeting you.
Sincerely,
Gary Melius & Family
